As well as being a historic canal village, Metamora Indiana is also known as the home of fudge and sweet shops.

At Mr Fudge's Confectionery on Main Street visitors can watch as fudge and brittles are poured out on a marble slab and worked into delicious treats. Donna Monroe grew up learning the tricks of the trade, you can watch a video of her in action on Youtube just like the old time drug store sodas. In 1942 Bernard Folk built a sturdy little building near the river in Marion Indiana. The upper level of the building contained three apartments and a barber shop. The first level housed the new Folkies Tavern. The cozy little pub provided drinks and sandwiches to the downtown businessmen. Attorneys, shop owners, and factory workers gathered to discuss the news of the war raging across the Pacific.
